June 25, 2024: Tuesday Trail Talk

What a Week We Had

Last week we were able to organize 3 different volunteer groups to assist on the new addition to the Casper Mountain Trails System as well as providing much needed maintenance at Rotary Park and parts of the Bridle Trail. New trail was roughed-in inside the Miner loop area and we were glad to have over 35 total volunteers taking, moving debris, digging trail, and making slash piles for us to haul off. The Bridle trail received some East trail slope work, overgrown vegetation removal, cable route tensioning, and water mitigation, which re-directed a spring into a culvert and away from the gazebo. 21 volunteers and 3 CWTA trail crew were on site for all the Bridle trail events. We do, however, apologize for the slash pile by the dumpster. We had plans to get it cut up and removed, but our chainsaw was stolen early hours Friday morning. We will be clearing out that area ASAP. With the coming weeks of amazing weather, we are hoping to start our Trail Director on or around July 1st. This will initially mean trail building and maintenance operations will be performed on a part time basis until full funding needs are met and will then be on a full time schedule.

We NEED Your Help

As previously stated our new chainsaw was stolen this past week, and we have not been able to recover it. Casper Police Department is looking for the individual who tried to sell a very similar saw on Facebook Marketplace. To continue our trail maintenance and trail building efforts we had to purchase another saw. We are asking that you consider helping with the fund recovery and donate to help offset this unplanned purchase.

Maintenance is Underway

We will be having an increased presence the week of July 1st on Casper mountain. We will update you with any changes in trail conditions and access. If you should come across a trail-need please contact us directly at 307-262-6923 or on Instagram or Facebook and we will do our best to address the request.
