Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day

This past weekend we held our first ever IMBA Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day on Casper Mountain.  This event was geared toward the younger rider to provide a fun filled day of activities and group rides.  We planned this event with the anticipation of 25+ participants and had a total of 54!!! Wow, thank you Casper! We would also like to thank everyone involved in getting this event together from our board members to the supporters to our organization.  Without continued support, events like this would not be possible.  We were so happy to be able to provide a Strider Bike giveaway as well, made possible by IMBA and Strider.  Congrats to Darcy Schroeder for winning the bike! We hope this brings a lot of smiles to one of your kids as they learn how to ride bikes and enjoy the outdoors. It was so evident that the obstacle course was a hit! Kids as young as three years old were navigating the boardwalk and skinnies, making lap upon lap. We would like to thank the anonymous donor for all the wood so we could construct this course and for future projects we create. The new Fools Gold trail saw so many riders as well, we had multiple group rides, a treasure hunt, and individual hiking and biking tours. See lots more pictures of the day on our Facebook page!

We have received very positive feedback from this event and are looking at additional events in the future. Let us know what kind of event you would like to see. Is it a kids event, family event or even larger?  Trail festival maybe?? Please email us with your suggestions and ideas.

Trail Building 101

We are still moving forward in our efforts to rough-in the McMurry outer loop trail despite a minor setback.  Tools break and so does powered equipment. Last week on Tuesday the mini ex broke down leaving us no choice but to do a field recovery of the machine with the Equipment Share field service techs. We are grateful for our relationship with Equipment Share as they provided us with another machine! This new one is smaller, but we are confident that we can get more trail cut-in throughout the month of October.  Yesterday was our first day on the new machine and we were able to complete 350 yds of rough-in in only 3 hours.  We have approximately 4,000 additional yards (2.25 miles) to complete for the loop to be connected in entirety.  This week we will concentrate on connecting the McMurry outer loop to the Southeast connector to Eadsville, once completed we will likely move to the Northeast connector at the bottom of the dungeon and then move through zigzag from the top two track access point. We have plans to provide trial work until November 1st or if weather pushes us out first. If you see us on the trail stop by and say Hi!

Build Nights

Our Monday and Thursday build nights are still happening. Last night we worked on one of the new trails well into the dark, utilizing headlamps and area lighting. What a fun experience to work in the dark with friends! We have been working on the new double black mountain bike optimized trail that connects off of the new Spillway trail. Currently we are trail finishing and packing the trail tread and rollers. We are hoping to have this trail available for use this season. It looks like 3 more days of trail finishing will get this trail ready to ride! We have had a lot of use on this trail while we're away, we caution users from accessing this particular trail as the in trail features, although natural, are not completely rideable yet. We have a small group of advanced riders that ride certain sections to ensure rideability of these areas. When the trail is open for use all trail signage and warnings will be in place to provide the best information on this expert level trail section.

Wyoming's first All-Wheel park planning is underway

CWTA in partnership with the City of Casper has contracted with American Ramp Co. to design and plan for Wyoming first All-Wheel park!

This project was made possible from a planning grant that CWTA was awarded from the Wyoming Office of Outdoor Recreation.  This grant totaled $45,000 and will cover the expenses of the planning and design portion of this amazing community asset.  This facility is planned to be located at Mike Sedar park and will encompass a paved pump track, poured in place skate (all-wheel) park, kids bike playground, and bike skills area.  Please consider taking the online survey so we can hear from YOU on what you want to see.  This survey is open until Oct 28th.

Please Take the Survey!!

See you on the trails!
