McMurry Trail Milestone

The new trail is an updated version of the outer loop from the Kay-Linn master plan. This map gives a general idea of the location of the trail, which surrounds the McMurry Biathlon area.

Yesterday marked a milestone for us as we were able to connect to areas on the east side of the McMurry Mountain Park loop trail. This brings our total rough-in trail to 2 miles. There have been many challenging areas of rocky soil and dense vegetation, but ultimately it will make a very unique trail option for the users of the area. As the cooler weather progresses we will still be hard at the rest of the rough-in process. Without the generosity of Equipment Share’s mini excavator rental donation, this would not be possible. We again thank them for the machine. In the coming weeks we will be in the lowest elevation area of the loop, working through many tight corridor areas and working up to some very steep side slope cuts that will likely be very time consuming. This trail will connect from the southeastern-most portion of Eadsville and at the bottom of the Dungeon. The outer loop trail will share a portion of Eadsville, but will have adequate signage upon completion to direct users to a bypass two-track road if they so choose. This new trail addition is in the plans to be for winter use as well. If we can get the trail roughed in before significant snowfall, we will mark the trail for snowshoe access this year. See you on the trails!

New Double Black Trail

(Trail name coming soon)

We have been a bit quiet on this one. Last week we were able to move the mini excavator in the trail area to dig the trail alignment.  We have been working hard to get trail-finishing completed so we can soft open this new trail. Last night our volunteer team of builders were able to get the following completed and/or started.

  • Upper rock work

  • Vegetation removal on final descent option

  • Sculpt terrain to create the final ride option.

  • Massive rock removal and retaining wall construction

As we move into likely our final month of this season's trail building we will dedicate at least 1 day to trail finishing in this area and our extra daily time as well. Our goal is to have this trail accessible in 2 weeks.

Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day

This Saturday, October 5th, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This IMBA event will have fun, kid-focused activities and short group rides. This will all take place on the new Fools Gold trail in the maze area. Parking will be at Skunk Hollow with a short walk to the event area, just follow the signs!

Lunch is provided. Bring your bike, helmet, and energy!

New Trail Signs

This past Saturday our team was able to start the installation of new trail signs. We are placing temporary signs until we get the permanent ones finalized and made. All the new trails will have, at minimum, trailhead signage in the coming weeks. We also have temporary trail closure signs up on all trails under construction.

Fall foliage is beautiful, but falling leaves make for slick trails. Please use caution.
