Trail Talk: Weekly Update from Central Wyoming Trails Alliance

We are thrilled to share some exciting updates about the Casper Mountain Trail System!

Increased Trail Usage

The Casper Mountain Trail System has seen a significant increase in usage recently. Every morning, more cars are parked at Skunk Hollow, and by afternoon, the parking lot is full until dark. It’s wonderful to see so many people enjoying the trails!

New Trails in High Demand

Our new trails are getting an amazing amount of use:

  •     Lower Pinball

  •     New Spillway

  •     Fools Gold

  •     Mine Shaft

These trails are quickly becoming favorites among our community members.

Upcoming Projects

We have a lot of work ahead of us this year. Our focus is on the McMurry Mountain Park outer loop. We are almost 2 miles in, with 1/4 mile finished. We are hopeful to have this trail roughed in for winter, making it accessible for snowshoeing and skiing.

Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm. Let’s keep the momentum going and make this year one of the best for our trail system!

Happy Trails,

Austin

We Have to Say Goodbye

Today marks a day we must say goodbye to our mini excavator. Fortunately, this is not the end of our trail building. We are only moving the machine to a different area to work on the Double Black access trail off of the New Spillway. We will likely be in this area for 2-3 days, getting this trail roughed in and ready for fall riding. This will be a mountain bike optimized trail that leads to the very technical cliff area below outlook. Stay tuned for updates on this new build!!

Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day is Fast Approaching!

Save the date! Coming Saturday, October 5th from 11am-4pm.

We are hosting a Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day. This is a FREE IMBA event and we are celebrating 20 years with IMBA. This event will take place on the NEW Fools Gold and Mine Shaft trails. All age riders welcome.  Fools Gold Trail is excellent for strider type bikes. Bring your bike, helmet and weather appropriate clothing and join us on group rides and fun.  Bring your appetite too!!  Lunch and drinks will be provided.  If you do not have a bike let us know and we will do our best to have one available for one of the many group rides. We will also have door prizes and a Strider bike giveaway.

Keep a look out for any downed trees and please help us out by reporting them via the form on the trails page. Thank you!
