IMBA Leadership Summit

We had the amazing opportunity to attend the International Mountain Bicycling Association’s (IMBA) Leadership Summit in Knoxville, TN. We would first like to thank our financial sponsors that made this trip possible. Thanks goes out to Brian Scott, Greg Burgess and an anonymous contributor to get us there. Also, thank you to Zeelos for loaning the bike box so we could get our bike there too to enjoy some amazing community trails. This leadership summit was a perfect fit for us to bring new ideas to our community and help us be more effective in the implementation of our programs and activities. It was time well spent with like-minded organizations with like-minded goals.  It is truly amazing to see the economic benefit that communities see that support trails. We hope that with the economic rise of outdoor recreation in the State of Wyoming, our City and County leadership along with the community will see the need for the increase of outdoor recreation opportunities. Casper has been lucky with what Platte River Trails has done for our community with all the paved pathway connector trails throughout our communities. We at CWTA are hopeful that we can get the same community support on the addition of community youth trails, soft surface trail options within the city and ultimately an all-wheeled park for families and youth.

We are Honored

It has recently been brought to our attention that with the passing of Tim Frary donations were requested to be directed to Central Wyoming Trails Alliance. We are truly humbled and honored to help with the continuation of his legacy. Our website is set up to accept donations through PayPal. If this does not work for you, checks can be mailed to us at 615 S Beech St Casper Wyoming 82601. Please put attn: to the Tim Frary Memorial fund. We are saddened by this passing as many of us know him but are grateful for those that give in his honor.

Trail Theft and Vandalism on the Rise

We have recently been robbed…again 😡.  A trail map sign was stolen from the west side N40-Eadsville intersection.  We ask our community to look out for the following missing items:

  • Trail sign

  • Approx 40 orange fiberglass trail markers

  • Stihl MS400 Chainsaw

  • The iconic bird in the N40.

There has also been a major increase of trail damage and what appears to be malicious intent. Many occasions electric motorcycles (not class1 e-bikes) have been seen on our trails causing much damage in rock gardens and steep climbs. Also, there has been multiple instances of rocks and sticks placed in the trail and blind higher speed turns. And as we spoke of in a previous trail talk many social, unsanctioned, trails have been created causing confusion and possible erosion concerns. We will likely place trail cams at trailheads and strategic areas on the public use trails, but we first must obtain some and get permission to place them. We ask you as our partner for support and suggestions on camera brands and ultimately to be a great steward of the public use trails. See you on the trails!!

Stickers are only $4 with free shipping and all proceeds go to support trail building and maintance.
